The team of the EU-funded project for “Enhancing Lifelong Learning” has organised a training for teachers and other relevant staff of the Open Civil / Workers Universities from the municipalities of Skopje, Gostivar, Kumanovo, Shtip, Negotino, Veles, Strumica and Sveti Nikole, on the topic “Methodics and Didactics in Adult Education”, that took place in Strumica on 4-5 July 2017.

The goal of the training, prepared and led by the expert Dr. Emir Avdagić, was to raise the awareness on the teacher’s function and its role in adult education with special emphasis on the importance of assertive and non-verbal communication, group dynamics, visualisation of educational content, presentation rules, and the importance of application of interactive and innovative methods in the educational process.

The group of participants, together with Dr. Avdagic and the project’s key expert Ms. Mariana Matache, have also discussed functions, roles and teaching styles of the trainers of adults, the types and factors of constructive communication when working with adult students, the postulates and components of interactive training, as well as the most used methods in educational work with adults.

The interactive nature of the course allowed the participants to work on their teaching self-reflection throughout the training process, and become familiarised with some advanced techniques of working with adults – styles and channels of communication, learning styles, biological basis of learning, and the importance of nonverbal and para-verbal communication.

The newly acquired knowledge should help the teachers in adult educational organisation to achieve better results in their work, in line with best practices from the European count.
